Management of Crohn Disease A Review

Kelly Cushing et al.

Summary: Crohn disease is a chronic gastrointestinal inflammatory disease that requires early and effective control of inflammation. Treatment options include medication, surgery, and vaccination for infection prevention. Physicians should consider disease severity, patient risk stratification, age, and other clinical factors when determining the best treatment strategy.

Herb-partitioned moxibustion alleviates colonic inflammation in Crohn's disease rats by inhibiting hyperactivation of the NLRP3 inflammasome via regulation of the P2X7R-Pannexin-1 signaling pathway

Ji Zhang et al.

Summary: Herb-partitioned moxibustion at CV 6 and ST 25 can reduce colon damage, alleviate colon shortening, and suppress colonic inflammation in Crohn's disease rats by inhibiting the ATP content, P2X7R, Pannexin-1, and NF-kappa Bp65 expression, leading to decreased release of IL-1 beta. This study identifies a novel mechanism for herb-partitioned moxibustion in inhibiting the abnormal activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome in Crohn's disease rats.
