The study also demonstrated that the adsorbents could be regenerated and easily recycled.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of biofloc system using different carbon sources on the growth, digestive enzymes, and gene expression of white-leg shrimp. The results show that shrimp in the rice bran and sugarcane bagasse groups have improved growth and survival rates, as well as increased digestive enzyme activities. The expression levels of various growth-related genes were also significantly increased, with the rice bran group showing the highest levels. Additionally, the haemocyanin gene can be utilized as a marker for selecting large-sized shrimp.

The results showed that using sugarcane bagasse and rice bran as carbon sources in the BFT system improved the growth and survival rate of shrimp, increased digestive enzyme activities in the intestine, and improved the histological structure of the hepatopancreas.

Thermodynamic analysis indicated the sorption process was exothermic and spontaneous.

Overall, dry feeds, especially corn starch, are very useful and applicable in hatcheries for maximizing the fecundity and density of Cyclopoida copepod species, O. nana.
