Neural mechanism mimetic selective electronic nose based on programmed M13 bacteriophage

Jong-Min Lee et al.

Summary: This study introduces an electronic nose based on the programmable surface chemistry of M13 bacteriophage, inspired by the neural mechanism of the mammalian olfactory system. The electronic nose is capable of distinguishing polycyclic aromatic compounds in an atomic-level resolution with 97.5% selectivity rate, providing practical methodology and inspiration for the second-generation electronic nose development.

High Accuracy Real-Time Multi-Gas Identification by a Batch-Uniform Gas Sensor Array and Deep Learning Algorithm

Mingu Kang et al.

Summary: Semiconductor metal oxide (SMO) gas sensors are considered as next-generation environmental monitoring sensors, but they have limitations in actual applications due to low selectivity. This study solves these problems by fabricating uniform gas sensor arrays and applying a deep learning algorithm, achieving real-time selective gas detection for various gases.

Real-time monitoring of the oil shale pyrolysis process using a bionic electronic nose

Rongsheng Zhao et al.

Summary: This study introduced the use of a bionic electronic nose (BEN) for real-time monitoring of oil shale pyrolysis. The BEN technique accurately predicted thermal maturity and optimized the pyrolysis process. Different classifiers and feature extraction methods were used for qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results showed that BEN can effectively detect oil shale exploration, making it an important tool for the industry.

Comparison of the performance of metal oxide and conducting polymer electronic noses for detection of aflatoxin using artificially contaminated maize

Catherine Machungo et al.

Summary: The electronic nose technology has the potential to be a fast, cost-effective, and portable diagnostic device for screening aflatoxin contamination in produce at the market entry level. This study compared the performance of three electronic nose sensor technologies and found that a doped metal oxide semiconductor sensor with thermocycling was more effective in detecting aflatoxin contamination in maize.

Bionic Layout Optimization of Sensor Array in Electronic Nose for Oil Shale Pyrolysis Process Detection

Xiaohui Weng et al.

Summary: A small bionic electronic nose system was designed to meet the requirements for miniaturization detection of oil shale pyrolysis process and improve the sensitivity of detection devices. Results showed that the proposed spatial arrangement strategy of sensor array inside the electronic nose chamber can enhance the detection sensitivity, weaken mutual interference error, and increase recognition rate.
