Metal-Dielectric-Graphene Hybrid Heterostructures with Enhanced Surface Plasmon Resonance Sensitivity Based on Amplitude and Phase Measurements

Vasyl G. Kravets et al.

Summary: Metal-dielectric-graphene hybrid heterostructures have been fabricated and studied, demonstrating improved characteristics for surface plasmon resonance biosensing by adding dielectric/graphene layers. The sensitivities of the heterostructures were significantly higher than those of bare metal films, and the width of the reflectivity curves was reduced. An unexpected blueshift of the plasmon resonance spectral position was observed after covering noble metals with high-index dielectric/graphene layers.
