Ethanolic extracts of South African plants, Buddleja saligna Willd. and Helichrysum odoratissimum (L.) Sweet, as multifunctional ingredients in sunscreen formulations

Danielle Twilley et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the biological activity of two South African plant extracts and successfully incorporated them into sunscreen formulations to protect the skin. The extracts showed antioxidant activity, mutagenic potential, and antiproliferative activity against human dermal fibroblasts, while not affecting the stability or photoprotective effect of the sunscreen formulations.
