Socio-economic inequality of utilization of cancer testing in Europe: A cross-sectional study

H. Bozhar et al.

Summary: Screening programmes for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer in Europe vary in uptake across countries and regions. This study examines the disparities in testing utilization by socio-economic status and finds that low household income, educational level, and employment status are associated with lower utilization rates. There are also variations in inequality across different European regions, with income-based inequality being the greatest in Southern Europe for breast and colorectal testing, and Eastern Europe for cervical smears.

Human Papillomavirus Detection by Whole-Genome Next-Generation Sequencing: Importance of Validation and Quality Assurance Procedures

Laila Sara Arroyo Muhr et al.

Summary: NGS technology provides powerful opportunities for HPV genomics research, but rigorous validation and quality assurance procedures are essential to ensure reliable interpretation of results. Recommendations for optimizing sequencing data yield and curated bioinformatical procedures are crucial for robust analysis of HPV genotypes and mutations. International standards for quality assurance in HPV NGS should be developed to enhance testing and diagnostics in global efforts.
