Longitudinal and abattoir-based surveillance of MERS-CoV in camels in Jordan, 2018-2020

Mustafa M. Ababneh et al.

Summary: A longitudinal surveillance study was conducted in Jordan to monitor the antibody kinetics and nasal shedding dynamics of MERS-CoV in camels. The study found that camels in the Al-azraq herd were mostly seropositive but negative for viral RNA, while animals in the Al-ramtha herd showed an unstable pattern of seropositivity. The phylogenetic analysis revealed continuous circulation of the clade B strain of MERS-CoV in Jordan, indicating a potential public health risk.
