Big data and predictive analytics in neurocritical care

Ayham Alkhachroum et al.

Summary: This review aims to describe the use of predictive data and workflow in managing neurologically ill patients in the intensive care unit. With the advent of Big Data in medicine, intensive care units have become data-rich environments. Neurocritical care, in particular, adds another layer of data with advanced multimodal monitoring. The acquisition and visualization of these complex and dynamic data pose challenges in achieving an optimal decision support system.

Validity of transcranial Doppler ultrasonography-determined dynamic cerebral autoregulation estimated using transfer function analysis

Hironori Watanabe et al.

Summary: Transcranial Doppler ultrasonography (TCD) can be used to evaluate dynamic cerebral autoregulation (dCA), and the method shows similar results to evaluating dCA using cerebral blood flow (CBF).

Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography as a Diagnostic Tool for Cerebrovascular Disorders

Yuanmei Pan et al.

Summary: Transcranial Doppler (TCD) is a cost-effective and non-invasive method for diagnosing cerebrovascular diseases, although it has limited application due to operator dependency. Early diagnosis and treatment using TCD can significantly improve prognosis for patients with cerebrovascular diseases.

Cerebral Autoregulation Assessment Using the Near Infrared Spectroscopy 'NIRS-Only' High Frequency Methodology in Critically Ill Patients: A Prospective Cross-Sectional Study

Jeanette Tas et al.

Summary: Estimating cerebral autoregulation using near infrared spectroscopy is feasible in an ICU population, and segment selection improves the consistency of the estimates. This non-invasive method has the advantage of not requiring arterial blood pressure monitoring.
