Hematite-based photoelectrochemical interfaces for solar fuel production

Serena Berardi et al.

Summary: The production of solar fuels is an important strategy to meet the increasing global energy demand sustainably. Solar energy is abundant and inexhaustible, but intermittent. Photo-electrochemical cells are commonly used to store solar energy as chemical energy, and hematite is a promising material for this purpose.

Transparency and Morphology Control of Cu2O Photocathodes via an in Situ Electroconversion

Marina Caretti et al.

Summary: This study presents a new method for the fabrication of thin and homogeneous Cu2O films, which are used as photocathodes in photoelectrochemical water splitting cells. By in situ electroconversion of CuSCN, Cu2O films with controlled morphology were obtained. The results demonstrate that these Cu2O films exhibit promising performance for solar-driven hydrogen production.

A multi-perspective analysis of microclimate dynamics for air-based solar hydrogen production

Foster Lubbe et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the optimal control of water-from-air devices in microclimatic environments. The use of novel analysis techniques, such as wavelet transform coherence analysis, helps in understanding the complex processes within the microclimate. The study reveals that relative humidity and temperature are stratified near the ground, undergoing inversion twice a day. It is also observed that there is a possible link between absolute humidity and wind direction. The study proposes a two-tiered approach and suggests that wavelet transform coherence analysis can determine the propagation direction of humidification processes in the microclimate. The findings highlight the importance of microclimate monitoring and analysis in managing water-from-air systems.
