Metal-organic Framework/Polyimide composite with enhanced breakdown strength for flexible capacitor

Yanpeng Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the use of ZIF-8 nanoparticles significantly enhances the mechanical and breakdown strength of Polyimide-based composite dielectric materials. The formation of multi-site bonding networks improves the Young's modulus, reduces dielectric loss, increases breakdown strength, and raises ionization threshold, resulting in superior discharge energy densities compared to traditional materials. The effect of breakdown strength enhancement is also observed in PI-based composites loaded with UiO-66 nanoparticles, showcasing the potential of MOFs in expanding flexible dielectric applications and structural designs for thin-film capacitors.

Enhanced energy storage performance of all-organic sandwich structured dielectrics with FPE and P(VDF-HFP)

Wenchao Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of sandwich structure on the breakdown strength, dielectric properties, and energy storage properties of multilayer materials. The addition of FPE significantly enhances the breakdown strength and inhibits dielectric loss, leading to improved energy density. When the intermediate layer thickness of P(VDF-HFP) is 6 μm, the energy storage density and energy storage efficiency reach 11.0 J/cm3 and 86.7% respectively, achieving double improvement.

Summary: In this study, Ti3C2TX nanosheets were introduced into a polyimide matrix, leading to the realization of a composite material with synchronous resistance memory and energy storage characteristics. The addition of only 0.5 wt% Ti3C2TX nanosheets increased the charge-discharge energy storage density of the polyimide-based composite by approximately 30% and exhibited memristor characteristics. Additionally, the composites showed significantly improved mechanical flexibility and electrical reliability.

Enhancing high-temperature capacitor performance of polymer nanocomposites by adjusting the energy level structure in the micro-/meso-scopic interface region

Jiufeng Dong et al.

Summary: The interface plays a significant role in the conduction and breakdown behaviors of dielectric materials. This study focuses on the effect of the energy level structure in the filler/polymer and electrode/dielectric interface region on the breakdown strength and high-temperature energy storage performances. By incorporating wide bandgap oxide layers, this study reveals that the energy level structure of the interface region can be regulated, which introduces deep traps in the nanocomposites and increases the Schottky barrier to impede charge injection and transport. The nanocomposites exhibit enhanced dielectric constants and improved capacitive performance at elevated temperatures.
