Emissive Charge-Transfer States at Hybrid Inorganic/Organic Heterojunctions Enable Low Non-Radiative Recombination and High-Performance Photodetectors

Flurin Eisner et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that in hybrid inorganic-organic heterojunctions, charge generation through emissive charge transfer states is efficient, allowing for the fabrication of photovoltaic devices with low voltage losses and near-IR detectors with extremely low dark current and noise spectral density. The results suggest the potential for hybrid heterojunctions to exploit the unique properties of both inorganic and organic semiconductors for high-performance opto-electronic devices.

Uniform nucleation and epitaxy of bilayer molybdenum disulfide on sapphire

Lei Liu et al.

Summary: This study reports the successful nucleation of bilayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) on c-plane sapphire, achieving uniformity in the nucleation process. The design of atomic terrace height on c-plane sapphire allows for an edge-nucleation mechanism and the coalescence of MoS2 domains into continuous, centimeter-scale films. Field-effect transistor devices based on bilayer MoS2 channels show improved mobility and reduced variation compared to monolayer films.

Gas-mediated liquid metal printing toward large-scale 2D semiconductors and ultraviolet photodetector

Qian Li et al.

Summary: This study presents a gas-mediated fabrication method for centimeter-scale 2D semiconductors and ultraviolet photodetectors using liquid metal-based printing. The research demonstrates the feasibility of directly printing various large-scale 2D materials at ambient air, providing a fast, generic, clean, and scalable technique for manufacturing 2D semiconductors. By exploring the electrical properties and developing low-cost processes, the study successfully creates high-performance fully printed Ga2O3/Si heterojunction photodetectors with excellent sensibility and rapid photoresponse times, offering a feasible approach for mass production of high-performance ultraviolet photodetectors and suggesting a promising direction for large-scale 2D photoelectronic and electronic systems in the future.
