In-Situ Synthesis of Aluminum Matrix Composite from Al-NiO System by Mechanical Alloying

Samaneh Mamnooni et al.

Summary: In this study, Al-based composites reinforced by Alumina and Al-Ni intermetallic compounds were successfully fabricated using mechanical alloying technique. It was found that the addition of NiO can increase the formation of Al-Ni system intermetallic compounds and improve surface hardness. The Al-10 vol% NiO nanocomposite demonstrated better wear properties compared to samples with 7 and 13 vol% NiO, which is attributed to better matrix integrity and reinforcement distribution.

The effect of silver coated copper particle content on the properties of novel Cu-Ag alloys prepared by hot pressing method

Temel Varol et al.

Summary: This study systematically discussed the properties of novel Cu-Ag alloys reinforced with silver-coated copper particles fabricated by hot pressing for the first time. The research found that with the increase of silver-coated copper particle content, the Cu-Ag alloy exhibited denser microstructure, higher tensile strength and electrical conductivity, as well as improved oxidation resistance compared to pure Cu samples.

The wear and arc erosion behavior of novel copper based functionally graded electrical contact materials fabricated by hot pressing assisted electroless plating

Onur Guler et al.

Summary: In this study, novel copper based functionally graded electrical contact materials were fabricated using hot pressing technique, with the addition of silver, nickel and chrome plated copper core particles. The wear and arc-erosion performances of the developed materials were significantly improved compared to pure copper, with wear mechanism dominated by abrasive wear for the functionally graded materials including electroless nickel and chromium coating layer.

The decisive impact of microstructure on the machinability of pure copper

Xiaoxiang Sun et al.

Summary: The study focused on the machinability of UFG pure copper processed by twist extrusion, showing that the microstructure evolution through dynamic recrystallization mechanisms improved tensile strengths and hardness but reduced ductility. This enhanced machinability was attributed to lower thermal conductivity and strain localization within shear bands.
