Highly aligned aramid nanofibrillar nanocomposites for enhanced dynamic mechanical properties

Donggeun Lee et al.

Summary: This study prepared aligned aramid nanofiber/poly(vinyl alcohol) (ANF/PVA) nanocomposites with a nanofiller volume fraction of 48%, showing improvements in mechanical strength and stiffness due to effective stress transfer between aligned ANFs and PVA. The damping properties varied depending on different dissipation modes activated and loading angles relative to the nanofiber alignment direction, leading to viscoelastic properties exceeding conventional limits. Deepening the understanding of anisotropic dynamic mechanical responses is crucial for designing aligned nanocomposite materials for mechanical and electronic applications.
