Comparison of statistical and MCDM approaches for flood susceptibility mapping in northern Iran

Seyed Mostafa Mousavi et al.

Summary: This study compared statistical approaches and multi-criteria-decision-making (MCDM) in flood hazard susceptibility mapping (FHSM) and evaluated their performance in a case study in northern Iran. The results showed that the MCDM approach outperformed statistical methods in predicting flood risk.

Studies on calculation method and bandgap properties of a nonlocal piezoelectric phononic crystal nanoplate

Xiangrong Song et al.

Summary: By incorporating nonlocal elastic theory and Kirchhoff plate theory into the plane wave expansion (PWE) method, the band structure of a nonlocal piezoelectric phononic crystal (PC) nanoplate was successfully calculated, revealing a complete band gap with a magnitude on the order of gigahertz (GHz). The study investigated the influence rules of thermo-electro-mechanical coupling fields, nonlocal effects, and geometric parameters on band gaps, with parameters including temperature variation, electrical voltage, external axial force, nonlocal coefficient, lattice constant, PZT-4 hole radius, and nanoplate thickness.

Flexural wave band structure of magneto-elastic phononic crystal nanobeams based on the nonlocal theory

Shunzu Zhang et al.

Summary: This study establishes a theoretical model for magneto-elastic PC nanobeams, and analyzes the influence of nonlocal effects, pre-stress, and magnetic field on the band structure. The results show that the nonlocal effect and geometric parameters play key roles in determining the high order band gaps.

Size and temperature effects on band gaps in periodic fluid-filled micropipes

Jun Hong et al.

Summary: A new model is proposed for determining band gaps of flexural wave propagation in periodic fluid-filled micropipes with circular and square thin-wall cross-sectional shapes. The numerical results show that tailoring factors such as wall thickness, unit cell length, and temperature change can lead to larger band gaps.

Tunable Bandgaps in Phononic Crystal Microbeams Based on Microstructure, Piezo and Temperature Effects

Jun Hong et al.

Summary: A new model of non-classical phononic crystal microbeam incorporating microstructure, piezomagnetism, piezoelectricity and temperature effects is provided for elastic wave bandgap generation. The study reveals that the bandgap frequency is raised with the presence of piezoelectric and microstructure effects, and geometric parameters play an important role. Adjusting external electric and magnetic potentials at micron scale can lead to large bandgaps, while lower bandgap frequency can be achieved through temperature rise at all length scales.
