HIV testing and related factors among 50 years and older MSM in China: results from a cross-sectional study

Jun Lian et al.

Summary: The prevalence of HIV has been increasing, especially among individuals aged 50 and above. This study aimed to investigate the factors associated with regular HIV testing behavior using data from an online survey of MSM. The findings indicate that a large number of Chinese MSM aged 50 and above have not undergone HIV testing. Interventions to promote HIV testing should focus on expanding screening programs, providing education on HIV/AIDS, creating supportive social environments, and improving self-efficacy.

Effectiveness of HIV Stigma Interventions for Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) With and Without HIV in the United States: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses

Jayleen K. L. Gunn et al.

Summary: Interventions targeting HIV stigma among MSM did not show significant reduction in stigma, but produced significant decreases in sex-related risks. Including stigma reduction components in interventions can improve HIV testing rates and reduce sexual risks for MSM. Developing interventions to address stigma may play a crucial role in decreasing HIV infection among MSM and ultimately ending the HIV epidemic.

Factors related to HIV testing frequency in MSM based on the 2011-2018 survey in Tianjin, China: a hint for risk reduction strategy

Zhongquan Liu et al.

Summary: The study analyzed factors related to HIV testing behaviors among men who have sex with men (MSM) and found that being young, having low education, lacking HIV/AIDS knowledge, being married, accepting condom promotion, and using condoms frequently were linked to HIV testing behaviors. Targeted publicity, education, and promotion of HIV self-testing kits should be carried out to encourage frequent HIV testing among these groups.

HIV/AIDS late presentation and its associated factors in China from 2010 to 2020: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Chengqing Sun et al.

Summary: This study found that patients aged 50 and above, married, with heterosexual contact as a risk factor for infection, and diagnosed in medical institutions were risk factors for late presentation in HIV/AIDS care. In areas with low HIV prevalence, patients aged 50 and above, married patients, and those diagnosed in medical institutions were more likely to present late than in high prevalence areas. Married patients and those diagnosed in medical institutions after 2015 have a lower risk of late presentation.
