Grindability of titanium alloy using cryogenic nanolubricant minimum quantity lubrication

Xin Cui et al.

Summary: This research establishes calculation formulas to evaluate the grindability of Ti6Al-4V titanium alloy, and finds that cryogenic nanolubricant minimum quantity lubrication (CNMQL) exhibits the best performance in the grinding process. CNMQL significantly reduces grinding force, peak temperature, and surface roughness, while improving the ability to resist surface defects.

Fiber-reinforced composites in milling and grinding: machining bottlenecks and advanced strategies

Teng Gao et al.

Summary: Fiber-reinforced composites have been widely used in aviation and aerospace industries due to their high-strength performance. However, their complex structure makes them difficult to machine. This review summarizes the progress in understanding the damage formation mechanisms and the strategies to suppress them during milling and grinding of fiber-reinforced composites. The review covers mechanisms of milling damage, grinding mechanisms, and various suppression strategies such as ultrasonic vibration-assisted machining, cryogenic cooling, minimum quantity lubrication (MQL), and tool optimization design.

Tribology of enhanced turning using biolubricants: A comparative assessment

Xiaoming Wang et al.

Summary: The tribological behavior of cutting is crucial in determining the production cycle, cost, and quality of parts. Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) based on environmentally friendly biolubricants can modify the contact conditions in cutting zones, but it cannot meet the requirements for machining difficult-to-machine materials. This study comprehensively analyzed the lubrication mechanism and technical performance of enhanced MQL in turning, and conducted a comparative assessment of cutting force, cutting temperature, tool wear, and surface quality under enhanced environmentally friendly lubrication turning. The study provides insights into the mechanism, tribological behavior, and development trend of lubrication in relation to continuous cutting.

Statistical modeling and investigation of thermal characteristics of a new nanofluid containing cerium oxide powder

Behrooz Ruhani et al.

Summary: This paper extracted the thermal conductivity of cerium oxide/ethylene glycol nanofluid for different temperatures and volume fractions of nanoparticles, and predicted it using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and fitting method. The experiments showed an increase in the thermal conductivity ratio of the nanofluid with increasing volume fraction and temperature. It was observed that the rate of increase in thermal conductivity at high temperatures is higher than at low temperatures. The ANN proved to be highly effective in predicting the thermal behavior of the nanofluid.

Preparation of stable TiO2-Graphene/Water hybrid nanofluids and development of a new correlation for thermal conductivity

Reza Bakhtiari et al.

Summary: The study investigated the thermal conductivity coefficient variation of TiO2-Graphene/Water hybrid nanofluid, showing that an increase in temperature and volume fraction enhances thermal conductivity. The effect of volume fraction on thermal conductivity was found to be larger than the effect of temperature, particularly at higher temperatures. A model was proposed to predict the thermal conductivity of nanofluids with a small margin of error, indicating good compatibility with experimental data.

Yanfang Zhu et al.

Summary: This laboratory study investigated the impact of temperature and volume fraction of nanoparticles on the dynamic viscosity of MWCNT - WO3 / water - Ethylene glycol nanofluid. The results showed that the viscosity increases with temperature at a constant temperature, but decreases with temperature at a constant volume fraction. A mathematical model was proposed to estimate the viscosity based on temperature and volume fraction, which was found to be accurate for the nanofluid.
