Predictive Factors of Poor Outcome in Sanders Type III and IV Calcaneal Fractures Treated with an Open Reduction and Internal Fixation with Plate: A Medium-Term Follow-Up

Luigi Cianni et al.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the clinical and radiological outcomes of severely comminuted calcaneus fractures treated with ORIF, as well as to identify early predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Results showed that plate and screw fixation provided similar outcomes in long-term follow-up for Sanders Type III and Type IV fractures. Patients with polytrauma or psychiatric conditions had significantly lower clinical outcomes in long-term follow-up.

Retro-Malleolar Z-Plasty of Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon in Post-Traumatic Checkrein Deformity: A Case Series and Literature Review

Chiara Polichetti et al.

Summary: Checkrein deformity is a dynamic deformity of the hallux characterized by flexion contracture of the interphalangeal joint and extension contracture of the metatarsophalangeal joint. This study analyzed the clinical and functional outcomes of patients with Checkrein deformity treated with FHL tendon lengthening using a retro-malleolar Z-plasty.

Subtalar Arthroereisis as an Adjunct Procedure Improves Forefoot Abduction in Stage IIb Adult-Acquired Flatfoot Deformity

Alessio Bernasconi et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the radiographic correction and complications of subtalar arthroereisis (STA) as an adjunct procedure for stage IIb adult-acquired flexible flatfoot deformity (AAFD). The retrospective analysis showed that STA as an adjunct procedure led to improved correction of forefoot abduction, but with a relatively high complication and removal rate.

Combined weightbearing CT and MRI assessment of flexible progressive collapsing foot deformity

Cesar de Cesar Netto et al.

Summary: The study found significant correlations between WBCT markers of pronounced deformity and PTS in patients with PCFD and MRI involvement of important restraints such as the PTT, spring ligament, and talocalcaneal interosseus ligaments.

Distal Tibiofibular Syndesmotic Widening in Progressive Collapsing Foot Deformity

Elijah Auch et al.

Summary: This study found that patients with PCFD demonstrated increased DTFS area measurements compared to controls, with a significantly weak positive correlation between FAO and DTFS area measurements. The highest syndesmotic widening occurred when FAO values were between 7% and 9.3%.

Radiographic Outcomes of Cotton Osteotomy in Treatment of Adult-Acquired Flatfoot Deformity

Mostafa M. Abousayed et al.

Summary: Long-term radiographic outcomes of Cotton osteotomy for adult-acquired flatfoot deformity (AAFD) were investigated, showing significant improvement in early correction but substantial loss of correction by final follow-up. The angular shape of the cuneiform did not collapse, indicating further collapse may have occurred through the medial column joints.
