Significant enhancement of thermal conductivity in segregated (GnPs&MWCNTs)@Polybenzoxazine/(Polyether ether ketone) -based composites with excellent electromagnetic shielding

Rui Chen et al.

Summary: With the rapid development of electronic devices, the demand for polymer-based composites with thermal management and EMI capabilities is urgent. This study presents a viable approach to enhance the thermal conductivity and EMI performance of composites by fabricating a segregated structure multi-walled carbon nanotubes-graphite nanosheets/polyetheretherketone (PEEK) composite modified by polybenzoxazine (PBZ).

Ultrahigh-Aspect-Ratio Boron Nitride Nanosheets Leading to Superhigh In-Plane Thermal Conductivity of Foldable Heat Spreader

Qingwei Yan et al.

Summary: A rapid and high-yield method based on a microfluidization technique is developed to obtain exfoliated BNNS with a record high aspect ratio of approximate to 1500 and low degree of defects. The composite film made of BNNS and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix exhibits an in-plane thermal conductivity of 67.6 W m(-1) K-1 at a BNNS loading of 83 wt %, leading to a record high value of thermal conductivity enhancement (approximate to 35,500). This provides a practical route to produce electrically insulating polymer composites with high thermal conductivity for thermal management applications in modern electronic devices.

High In-Plane Thermal Conductivity of Aluminum Nitride Thin Films

Md Shafkat Bin Hoque et al.

Summary: High thermal conductivities were measured in thin aluminum nitride (AlN) films through steady-state thermoreflectance, with in-plane thermal conductivity surpassing even diamond thin films at low temperatures. Phonon-phonon scattering was found to drive thermal transport in these AlN films, leading to an increase in thermal conductivity as temperature decreases. This study sheds light on the interplay among boundary, defect, and phonon-phonon scattering that contributes to the high in-plane thermal conductivity of AlN thin films.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the addition of a small amount of silver nanowires (AgNWs) to EP/S-Al2O3 composites can significantly enhance thermal conductivity without sacrificing processability. The micro-nano EP/AgNWs/S-Al2O3 composites exhibit high thermal conductivity, low viscosity, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and high glass transition temperature.

Combining Alumina Particles with Three-Dimensional Alumina Foam for High Thermally Conductive Epoxy Composites

Hao Wang et al.

Summary: The epoxy/AF/Al2O3 composite with a high thermal conductivity of 4.1 W/mK and a significant thermal conductivity enhancement of 2097% demonstrates a promising filler structure for thermal conductivity composites. The synergistic effect between the 3D interconnected AF and Al2O3 microparticles plays a critical role in promoting thermal percolation networks and lowering the coefficient of thermal expansion compared to most epoxy-based composites.
