Effects of soil properties on urea-N transformation and efficacy of nitrification inhibitor 3, 4-dimethypyrazole phosphate (DMPP)

Jichao Gao et al.

Summary: Ammonia and nitrate are major sources of nitrogen loss in soil during urea transformation, with 3,4-dimethypyrazole phosphate (DMPP) as an inhibitor affecting their production. Soil properties influence NH3 loss, NO3- production, and DMPP efficiency. Results showed urea degradation correlated with soil organic carbon, NO3- production with soil pH, sand, and clay content, and DMPP efficiency with NO3- production rate. NH3 volatilization correlated with soil pH and sand content, and DMPP inhibition efficiency increased NH3 losses.

Granulated biofuel ash as a sustainable source of plant nutrients

Kristina Buneviciene et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that using granulated biomass ash can significantly increase yields of spring barley and straw, as well as enhance calcium concentration in soil. There were no significant changes in mobile phosphorus and heavy metal concentrations in soil.

Release of Nitrogen from Granulate Mineral and Organic Fertilizers and Its Effect on Selected Chemical Parameters of Soil

Tomasz Niedzinski et al.

Summary: The study found that mineral fertilizers release nitrogen at a faster rate compared to organic fertilizers, with a higher percentage of nitrogen released. During incubation, significant changes were observed in soil pH and nitrogen content for mineral fertilizers, while organic fertilizers did not cause these changes. Mineral fertilizers significantly modified the EC value of the soil solution.

Use of Controlled-Release Urea to Improve Yield, Nitrogen Utilization, and Economic Return and Reduce Nitrogen Loss in Wheat-Maize Crop Rotations

Xinpeng Xu et al.

Summary: The study showed that mixing controlled-release urea with urea can increase yields and net benefits while reducing nitrogen losses compared to using the NE system alone. Using 60% controlled-release urea for maize and 75% for wheat had the best overall effects.
