Oyster shell derived hydroxyapatite microspheres as an effective adsorbent for remediation of Coomassie brilliant blue

Hongbo Wang et al.

Summary: Discharging of dyestuff is a significant cause of water pollution. In this study, hydroxyapatite microspheres prepared from oyster shell wastes were used to mimic the removal of Coomassie brilliant blue (CBB) in wastewater. Factors such as solution pH, initial CBB concentration, and temperature were investigated to determine their effects on the adsorption capacity. The results showed that the hydroxyapatite microspheres exhibited strong adsorption capacity for CBB and could be reused effectively.

Migration and deposition behavior of silica powder in saturated sand: coupled effects of temperature and flow rate

Xianze Cui et al.

Summary: This study explores the effects of temperature and percolation velocity on the migration and deposition characteristics of different silica powder in saturated porous media. The results show that with increasing seepage velocity and temperature, the sedimentation coefficient and longitudinal dispersion coefficient increase. Higher temperature leads to lower relative concentration of effluent particles at the same percolation rate, while faster flow rate results in higher relative concentration of effluent particles at the same temperature. Therefore, temperature and flow rate are important factors affecting the migration of suspended particles.

Experimental study on dynamic response of micron aluminum powder

Yongxing Deng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamic compression behavior of micron-sized Al powders under various loading conditions. The results show that the temperature of the Al powder specimen continued to increase after loading, indicating interactions between particles. The study also found that particle melting and merging occurred under unconfined loading, while there was no melting under confined loading. Additionally, particle melting was observed after single-pulse loading, but not significant due to insufficient impact energy and small deformation.

The remediation efficiency of heavy metal pollutants in water by industrial red mud particle waste

Bing Bai et al.

Summary: This study investigates the treatment of heavy metal pollutants in water using red mud particle waste. The experiment explores the static adsorption of Pb2+ (or Cd2+ and Cu2+) by red mud particles and examines the effects of various factors on the adsorption performance. The results indicate that red mud particles exhibit different adsorption strengths for different heavy metal ions, with Pb2+ showing the highest adsorption capacity. Increasing the temperature enhances the adsorption of heavy metal ions. The preferred adsorption sequence of red mud under competitive conditions is Pb2+, Cd2+, and then Cu2+.

Summary: In this study, montmorillonite (Mt) was modified to enhance its adsorption capacity of rare earth ions (RE3+). The adsorption capacity of RE3+ on modified Mt was found to be influenced by the initial concentration and temperature, with the adsorption process being controlled by chemisorption. The pseudo-second-order model accurately represents the adsorption kinetics, and the process is determined to be a spontaneous endothermic process through thermodynamic studies.

Removal of suspended solids from weathered tungsten-ore beneficiation wastewater by electroneutralization and chemical precipitation

Qilin Zhai et al.

Summary: In this study, an innovative technology using calcium chloride (CaCl2) to remove suspended solids (SS) from weathered tungsten-ore beneficiation wastewater (WTBW) was established. Through a series of laboratory tests, optimal conditions for SS removal from WTBW were determined. Results showed a significant decrease in SS content after CaCl2 treatment, leading to improved tungsten grade and recovery in the flotation system. Additionally, the mechanism of SS removal was analyzed, demonstrating the role of Ca2+ in neutralizing the charge on SS surface and promoting aggregation and sedimentation.
