Selaginellin Inhibits Melanogenesis via the MAPK Signaling Pathway

Ying Zhou et al.

Summary: This study found that selaginellin can inhibit melanogenesis both in vitro and in vivo. It achieves this by inhibiting the MAPK signaling pathway and downregulating the expression of MITF and its downstream genes. Additionally, selaginellin can antagonize the paracrine function of fibroblasts and keratinocytes activated by UVB, further inhibiting melanogenesis.

Galla rhois water extract inhibits enzymatic browning in apple juice partly by binding to and inactivating polyphenol oxidase

Min-Kyeong Lee et al.

Summary: Galla rhois was found to effectively inhibit the browning of apple juice, with longer-lasting effect and stronger antioxidant capacity compared to vitamin C. Further analysis identified 17 phytochemicals, including gallotannin derivatives, which contribute to the inhibition of enzymatic browning.

Brassinin Inhibits Proliferation in Human Liver Cancer Cells via Mitochondrial Dysfunction

Taeyeon Hong et al.

Summary: Brassinin exerts antiproliferative effects on HCC cells by reducing PCNA activity and inducing cell cycle arrest, increasing mitochondrial Ca2+ levels, generating ROS, and regulating AKT and MAPK signaling pathways. Co-administration with pharmacological inhibitors enhances its antiproliferative effects.

Brassinin enhances the anticancer actions of paclitaxel by targeting multiple signaling pathways in colorectal cancer cells

Min Hee Yang et al.

Summary: BSN, extracted from Chinese cabbage, has shown promising anti-neoplastic effects on colon cancer cells by modulating oncogenic signaling pathways and inducing apoptosis. Furthermore, the combination of BSN and paclitaxel synergistically increased cytotoxicity and apoptosis, suggesting BSN as a novel candidate for targeted therapy in colon cancer.
