Energy and Exergy Analyses of Rice Drying in a Novel Electric Stationary Bed Grain-Drying System with Internal Circulation of the Drying Medium

Guiying Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a system was developed to reduce energy consumption and pollutant discharge during the drying process. A new technology called the internal circulation of the drying medium (ICODM) was used to conduct a rice-drying experiment. The effect of air temperature and air velocity on energy and exergy efficiencies, as well as improvement potential rate and sustainability index of the rice-drying process were investigated. The findings suggest that controlling temperature and airflow can improve the energy efficiency of the drying process.

Application of Two-Stage Variable Temperature Drying in Hot Air-Drying of Paddy Rice

Xingang Xu et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of two-stage variable temperature drying (VTD) on the quality and drying efficiency of paddy rice in the hot air-drying process. It was observed that the VTD method could reduce drying time and fissuring rate, and improve head rice yield compared to constant temperature drying (CTD).

A Continuous Single-Layer Discrete Tiling System for Online Detection of Corn Impurities and Breakage Rates

Kun Wu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a classification and identification method using a feature threshold and a backpropagation neural network based on a genetic algorithm is proposed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of detecting impurities and breakage rate in harvested corn grains. A continuous single-layer discrete tile detection system is also constructed for this purpose. The experimental results show that the system's identification accuracy and processing time meet the requirements of online detection of corn characteristics in grain harvesting.
