Evaluation of sulfuric acid-pretreated biomass-derived biochar characteristics and its diazinon adsorption mechanism

Se-Eun Ban et al.

Summary: In this study, hemicellulose was effectively removed from biomass using sulfuric acid pretreatment, resulting in the production of biochar with an aromatic and graphitized structure. Biochar derived from pretreated biomass had a higher specific surface area and more micropores, leading to a higher removal rate of diazinon in soil.

Residue Behavior of Methoxyfenozide and Pymetrozine in Chinese Cabbage and Their Health Risk Assessment

Wenting Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the residual concentrations of the pesticides methoxyfenozide and pymetrozine in Chinese cabbage and assess the associated health risks. The results showed that temperature had a significant impact on the dissipation of these pesticides, with higher temperatures leading to faster degradation. Furthermore, higher pesticide residues in Chinese cabbage during low-temperature seasons resulted in higher health risk quotients.

Residues and Uptake of Soil-Applied Dinotefuran by Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and Celery (Apium graveolens L.)

Hun Ju Ham et al.

Summary: This study investigated the uptake of dinotefuran and its metabolites by lettuce and celery from soil applications, finding that residues were generally below Korean MRLs, indicating negligible risk.

Plant-Back Intervals of Imicyafos Based on Its Soil Dissipation and Plant Uptake for Rotational Cultivation of Lettuce and Spinach in Greenhouse

Da-Jung Lim et al.

Summary: The study investigated the plant-back intervals (PBIs) of imicyafos for rotational cultivation of lettuce and spinach in greenhouses. Imicyafos dissipation and plant uptake were evaluated by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The results provide information on the residues in plants, soil acceptable residues (SARs), and the PBIs for imicyafos in lettuce and spinach.

Environmental Occurrence, Toxicity Concerns, and Degradation of Diazinon Using a Microbial System

Xiaozhen Wu et al.

Summary: Diazinon is an organophosphorus pesticide commonly used in agriculture to control pests, but its continuous application poses ecological risks and biological hazards. Microbial degradation has been found to be more effective than physicochemical methods for complete clean-up from contaminated environments. Further research is needed to understand the environmental fate and degradation mechanisms of this pesticide, with potential application of ecotechnological techniques for remediation.

Characterization of the role of esterases in the biodegradation of organophosphate, carbamate, and pyrethroid pesticides

Pankaj Bhatt et al.

Summary: Esterases are a specific group of hydrolases that accelerate the degradation of ester-containing organophosphate, carbamate, and pyrethroid pesticides in the environment. Their active sites contain serine residues that catalyze reactions via nucleophilic attack on substrates.
