Charge vibration behaviour in polyimide under the pulse voltage with different rise and fall times

Tao Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the charge behavior in polyimide under pulse voltage with different edge times was investigated. The experimental results showed that charges vibrate at the pulse edge, with amplitude increasing as edge times decrease. The rise and fall times of pulse voltage are important factors in insulation failure.

Temperature Gradient Affecting Electrical Tree in Silicone Rubber under Impulse Superimposed on DC Voltage

B. X. Du et al.

Summary: The paper investigates the electrical tree growth characteristics of silicone rubber under impulse superimposed on DC voltage and a temperature gradient field. The results show that temperature gradient and impulse superimposed on DC voltage have a significant impact on the length and morphology of the electrical tree.

Effects of Hindered Phenolic Antioxidants on Space Charge and Breakdown Properties of Polypropylene

B. X. Du et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that antioxidants AO300 and AO736 can enhance the electrical properties of isotactic polypropylene, leading to improved conductivity-temperature coefficient and DC breakdown strength. By introducing mechanisms such as local states and deep trap sites, these antioxidants can capture high-energy charges and scavenge radicals, effectively inhibiting breakdown processes.

In-situ observation of electrical tree evolution in epoxy dielectrics with internal cracks

Zehua Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the initiation mechanisms of crack-induced electrical tree and revealed the reasons for erosion near the crack border. It was found that erosion and tree initiation typically occur at the border of the crack under a relatively low electric field strength, while the area near the electrode remains relatively undamaged. The breaking of epoxy molecular chains leads to coarsening of the crack surface and the formation of deep channels on a micro-level, which are precursors to electrical tree inception.

Effects of Temperature Gradient on Electrical Tree Initiation and Breakdown Phenomenon in XLPE Under Harmonic Superimposed DC Voltage

Lewei Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of temperature gradients and harmonic superimposed DC voltage on electrical tree degradation in cross-linked polyethylene insulation. Results show that higher temperature gradients make it easier for electrical trees to initiate, and positive DC bias voltage is more likely to cause damage and breakdown under these conditions. The findings suggest that attention should be given to the safety of electrical equipment when exposed to such special conditions.
