Atomic scale modulation strategies and crystal phase transition of flower-like CoAl layered double hydroxides for supercapacitors

Summary: In this study, cobalt aluminum layered double hydroxide and its derivatives were synthesized and their structure, morphology, chemical composition, and electrochemical performances were investigated. The cobalt aluminum layered double hydroxide exhibited superior capacitance performance, rate capability, and cycling stability compared to cobalt phosphide. Moreover, the asymmetric capacitors constructed with cobalt aluminum layered double hydroxide and graphene showed high energy density, coulombic efficiency, and capacitance retention.

MOF-derived hierarchical core-shell hollow Co3S4@NiCo2O4 nanosheet arrays for asymmetric supercapacitors

Summary: In this study, hierarchical core-shell hollow Co3S4@NiCo2O4 nanosheet arrays were constructed on reduced graphene oxide/nickel foam (rGO/NF) through a metal-organic framework (MOF)-engaged strategy, which exhibited significantly improved specific capacitance, rate capability, and cycling durability compared with Co3S4/rGO/NF. Moreover, it was successfully applied in an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) with excellent energy density, cycling stability, and coulombic efficiency.

The methodology used in this work could be extended to design novel nanomaterials for energy storage devices and other applications.

Stencil-printed electrodes without current collectors and inactive additives on textiles for in-plane microsupercapacitors
