Entropy generation analysis of radiative heat transfer in Williamson fluid flowing in a microchannel with nonlinear mixed convection and Joule heating

B. Mahanthesh et al.

Summary: The spectral quasi-linearization (SQLM) method is used to solve the nonlinear mixed convective heat transfer problem of a Williamson fluid through a vertical microchannel. The study shows that the nonlinear density change with temperature significantly affects heat transport and increases the Bejan number and entropy production.

Analysis of hybrid nanofluid behavior within a porous cavity including Lorentz forces and radiation impacts

Houman Babazadeh et al.

Summary: We investigated the convection transportation of hybrid nanofluid within a permeable medium under the influence of an externally applied magnetic force using a control volume-based finite element method. The study looked into the effects of Darcy and Rayleigh parameters, as well as magnetic and radiation parameters on the performance of the nanofluid. The results showed that the Nusselt number increased with the consideration of radiation and the addition of Lorentz force improved the conduction mode sensitivity, with good agreement with published results validating the numerical computations.

Hydromagnetic natural convection in a wavy-walled enclosure equipped with hybrid nanofluid and heat generating cylinder

Mohammad Mokaddes Ali et al.

Summary: Numerical investigation of buoyancy driven convection in a hybrid nanofluid filled wavy-walled cavity reveals that increasing Rayleigh number and heater length enhances fluid flow circulation and heat transfer rate, while higher Hartmann number shows the opposite trend. The presence of heat generating cylinder and roughness of cavity walls influence fluid motion intensity and temperature distribution.

Summary: This study simulated and investigated the free convection of Cu-water nanofluid inside a square heat exchanger chamber in the presence of MHD magnetic field, considering the effects of nanoparticles' motion on the flow field. It was found that the application of a magnetic field enlarged the nanoparticle transport zone, while increasing the Rayleigh number and decreasing the inclination angle of the enclosure caused nanoparticles to disperse evenly.

Natural convection and entropy generation of a nanoliquid in a crown wavy cavity: Effect of thermo-physical parameters and cavity shape

A. Sattar Dogonchi et al.

Summary: The natural convection of nanoliquids in enclosures has applications in various fields, and recent research has shown that suspending nanomaterials in the base fluid can enhance heat transfer performance. This study focuses on the convection of Al2O3-H2O nanoliquid in a crown cavity with a circular cylinder, under the influence of thermal radiation and a constant magnetic field. Results indicate that parameters such as Rayleigh number, Darcy number, Hartmann number, Radiation parameter, angle of magnetic field, and nanoparticle concentration affect heat transfer performance and entropy generation. Additionally, the geometry of the system also plays a significant role in determining heat transfer efficiency.

Summary: This study investigated the heat transfer, entropy generation, and flow of Fe3O4-water ferro-nanofluid within a porous ribbed microchannel heat sink in the presence of a constant magnetic field. Various dimensionless numbers and porosity percentages were considered to analyze the impacts on heat transfer performance. The results showed a direct relationship between factors such as porosity percentage, Reynolds number, and Hartmann number with the enhancement of the heat transfer coefficient.
