Yuxin Ye et al.

Summary: This paper introduces the concept of thermal superposition effect, which can effectively reduce the average temperature of multi-hotspot chips by optimizing the superposition factor. The factor also enables prediction of the temperature change of hotspots.

Superoxide Radical-Mediated Self-Synthesized Au/MoO3-x Hybrids with Enhanced Peroxidase-like Activity and Photothermal Effect for Anti-MRSA Therapy

Mengyu Cao et al.

Summary: There has been a rapid increase in MRSA infections in recent years, with high mortality rates due to delayed wound healing caused by biofilms formed by MRSA. This study developed a self-synthesis strategy to prepare a plasmonic-semiconductor hybrid, Au-doped MoO3-x (Au/MoO3-x), for the elimination of MRSA infections. The hybrid exhibited high efficiency in eliminating MRSA bacteria and showed excellent biosafety.

Influence of Thin Film Deposition on AFM Cantilever Tips in Adhesion and Young's Modulus of MEMS Surfaces

Pedram Heidari et al.

Summary: Adhesion is a critical factor in microelectromechanical systems (MEMSs), and this study examines the influence of gold and titanium on adhesion forces. The results show that an AFM tip coated with gold has the highest adhesion force on silicon substrates, while a titanium-coated AFM tip decreases the force. Therefore, these changes must be considered when studying adhesion forces.

Thermal analysis of a binary base fluid in pool boiling system of glycol-water alumina nano-suspension

Mohammad Reza Safaei et al.

Summary: This research aimed to measure the nucleate boiling heat transfer coefficient of aqueous glycol nano-suspension as a coolant around a heater. Two heat transfer zones were identified, and comparisons were made to evaluate the accuracy of the developed equations for estimating the BHTC value against experimental data. It was found that the developed equations are not accurate for data measured in the free convection region, and the Churchill-Chu correlation was recommended for estimating the BHTC in this area of heat transfer.

Transient conjugate natural convection heat transfer in a differentially-heated square cavity with a partition of finite thickness and thermal conductivity

Mehdi Khatamifar et al.

Summary: Numerical investigation on the transient conjugate natural convection heat transfer in a differentially-heated cavity with a partition revealed that the thermal conductivity ratio of the partition only has a significant effect within the range of 0.1-10, becoming negligible for higher ratios. Additionally, the scaling relations developed for non-partitioned cavities were found to be applicable to partitioned cavities as well. The partition thickness was found to significantly affect heat transfer only when the thermal conductivity ratio is small.

New insights into the effects of methane and oxygen on heat/mass transfer in reactive porous media

Zhilong Cheng et al.

Summary: This study examines the effects of methane and oxygen injection concentrations on sintering performance, showing that high methane concentration can expand the melting zone and increase the melting quantity index, while low oxygen concentration in the reacting flow can slow down the propagation speed of the melting zone, thus improving local sintering performance.

Simulation of natural convective heat transfer and entropy generation of nanoparticles around two spheres in horizontal arrangement

Basma Souayeh et al.

Summary: This study evaluated laminar convective heat transfer from two horizontally arranged spheres using numerical models and found that an increase in the Rayleigh number led to an increase in the average Nusselt number. The type of nanoparticles significantly affected the heat transfer rate and entropy generation. The introduction of Al2O3 nanoparticles resulted in approaching the highest Bejan number.

Numerical study on gravity-driven granular flow around tube out-wall: Effect of tube inclination on the heat transfer

Zhigang Guo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of tube inclination on heat transfer in granular flow moving bed heat exchangers using a discrete element method. It was found that tube inclination can improve heat transfer by increasing the heat transfer area, but uncertainties exist in the local heat transfer coefficients. Additionally, different effects were observed at different locations along the tube, with bottom area benefiting from increased heat transfer coefficient and top or middle areas experiencing opposing effects.

Summary: This report discusses the flow of Powell-Eyring fluid mixed with hybrid nanoparticles over a melting parabolic stretched surface. Flow rheology expressions have been derived under boundary layer theory and transformed into associated ODEs using similarity transformation. The applicability and effectiveness of FEM in solving highly nonlinear problems is demonstrated, showing that the methodology can be easily implemented in MAPLE 18.0.
