Distribution, Risk Factors, and Temporal Trends for Lung Cancer Incidence and Mortality A Global Analysis

Junjie Huang et al.

Summary: Lung cancer is the second most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Its incidence and mortality rates are associated with Human Development Index, Gross Domestic Products, and smoking prevalence. Most countries show increasing trends in lung cancer incidence and mortality among females, but decreasing trends among males. Measures to control the increasing trends among females and early cancer detection should be implemented in these regions.

β-Carotene Supplementation and Risk of Cardiovascular Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Jiaqi Yang et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the associations between beta-carotene supplementation and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. The results showed that beta-carotene supplementation had no beneficial effects on CVD incidence and could potentially increase cardiovascular mortality. Smoking behavior was also found to be associated with increased cardiovascular incidence and mortality in the beta-carotene intervention group.

Associations of Dietary Intakes of Carotenoids and Vitamin A with Lung Cancer Risk in a Low-Income Population in the Southeastern United States

Yan Sun et al.

Summary: This study examined the associations between dietary intake of carotenoids and vitamin A and lung cancer risk among low-income African Americans and European Americans. The results showed a positive association between dietary vitamin A intake and lung cancer risk among current smokers, as well as racial-specific associations with adenocarcinoma risk among African Americans. This study contributes to understanding the role of nutrient intake and lung cancer risk among underrepresented populations.
