High-Fat-Diet-Induced Oxidative Stress in Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) via NF-κB/NO Signal Pathway and the Amelioration of Vitamin E

Cunxin Sun et al.

Summary: Prawns fed on high-fat diets experience oxidative stress, leading to decreased growth performance and antioxidant capacity. However, the negative effects can be alleviated with the intake of vitamin E. The high-fat diet suppresses the toll-Dorsal and Imd-Relish signal pathways, potentially inducing oxidative stress through inhibition of the NF-κB/NO signaling pathway.

He Ding et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanism of cadmium-induced damage to granulosa cells and its association with m(6)A modification. The findings suggest that cadmium exposure reduces cell viability, increases apoptosis and oxidative stress, and alters the expression of various enzymes and proteins involved in cell damage. The AKT pathway and MNT gene may play important roles in this process. The study highlights the significance of m(6)A modification in cadmium toxicity to granulosa cells.

The Mechanism of Lipopolysaccharide Escaping the Intestinal Barrier in Megalobrama amblycephala Fed a High-Fat Diet

Yong-Jun Dai et al.

Summary: The popularity of Western food and its high fat content have led to obesity, which is associated with chronic inflammation and increased risk of multiple diseases. This study showed that a high-fat diet causes the weakening of the intestinal mucus barrier and facilitates the penetration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), leading to chronic inflammation. Additionally, the high-fat diet inhibits the secretion of mucin 2 (MUC2) and enhances the internalization of LPS in intestinal epithelial cells.

Short-term adaptability to non-hyperthermal stress: Antioxidant, immune and gut microbial responses in the red swamp crayfish, Procambarus clarkii

Guoliang Ruan et al.

Summary: Based on the previous studies, the adaptability of the red swamp crayfish to non-hyperthermal stress was investigated in terms of antioxidant capacity, immune function, HSP70 expression, and intestinal microbial changes. The results showed that the crayfish exhibited increased antioxidant capacity, immune-related enzymatic activities, and HSP70 expression under the non-hyperthermal stress temperature. The diversity and composition of the intestinal microbiota were also altered. These findings provide insights into the adaptive mechanisms of the crayfish in response to short-term non-hyperthermal stress.

Excessive Dietary Lipid Affecting Growth Performance, Feed Utilization, Lipid Deposition, and Hepatopancreas Lipometabolism of Large-Sized Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio)

Ze Fan et al.

Summary: The study showed that dietary lipid levels have a significant impact on the growth performance and lipid metabolism of large-sized common carp. Moderate increase in lipid levels can promote growth and lipid deposition, while excessive intake may inhibit growth and exacerbate lipid decomposition in the hepatopancreas. Optimal dietary lipid levels for growth performance and feed utilization of large-sized common carp were found to be 59.5 and 70.4 g/kg based on weight gain rate and feed conversion rate.

Myriocin modulates the altered lipid metabolism and storage in cystic fibrosis

Paola Signorelli et al.

Summary: CF is a hereditary disease mainly caused by the Delta F508 CFTR mutation, leading to multiple organ dysfunction, particularly chronic inflammation and infection in the lungs. Defective autophagy and accumulation of inflammatory lipid ceramide are potential therapeutic targets, and the inhibitor myriocin has shown promising results in reducing inflammation and enhancing cellular responses in CF models and patients. Targeting sphingolipids synthesis may help counteract lipid accumulation and restore autophagy and lipid metabolism homeostasis in CF cells.
