Ultrasound-assisted deep eutectic solvents extraction of glabridin and isoliquiritigenin from Glycyrrhiza glabra: Optimization, extraction mechanism and in vitro bioactivities

Chen Xing et al.

Summary: In this study, an eco-friendly deep eutectic solvent (NADESs) based ultrasound assisted extraction (DES-UAE) method was used to prepare high-quality licorice extracts with higher contents of glabridin (GLA) and isoliquiritigenin (ISL) and superior pharmacological activities. The mechanism of the increased extraction efficacy was also investigated.

Greener extraction of anthocyanins and antioxidant activity from blackberry (Rubus spp) using natural deep eutectic solvents

Oscar Zannou et al.

Summary: This study investigates an efficient and greener strategy for extracting blackberry anthocyanins using natural deep eutectic solvents (NaDESs). Sixteen different NaDESs were synthesized and compared with conventional solvents. The results showed that NaDESs exhibited superior extraction properties for antioxidants and anthocyanins in blackberry. This research provides a promising approach for future investigations on phytochemicals in plants.

Deep eutectic solvent-based ultrasonic-assisted extraction of phenolic compounds from different potato genotypes: Comparison of free and bound phenolic profiles and antioxidant activity

Haicui Suo et al.

Summary: This study found significant differences in total phenolic content, total flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity between free and bound forms in 19 potato genotypes. It also identified and quantified 7 free and 24 bound phenolics, among which 22 bound phenolics were reported for the first time in potato. The number and content of identified phenolics varied considerably among the genotypes.

Natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES): A strategy to improve the bioavailability of blueberry phenolic compounds in a ready-to-use extract

Dariane Trivisiol da Silva et al.

Summary: The study found that a ready-to-use extract obtained using a natural deep eutectic solvent can increase the bioavailability of anthocyanins and improve the stability of phenolic compounds during in vitro digestion. This suggests that NADES can be used not only for plant compound extraction, but also as a vehicle for enhancing the oral absorption of bioactive compounds.
