Biophysical Studies and In Vitro Effects of Tumor Cell Lines of Cannabidiol and Its Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complexes

Kyriaki Hatziagapiou et al.

Summary: Phytocannabinoids, such as CBD, have anticancer properties, but their high lipophilicity limits their solubility, stability, and bioavailability. This study investigates the in vitro effects of CBD and its inclusion complexes with cyclodextrins (CDs) on cancer cell lines. The study demonstrates that CBD complexed with methylated beta-CDs exhibits enhanced solubility and improved efficacy against cancer cells, suggesting the potential of cannabinoids as inhibitors of cancer growth.

Solubility of Piperine and Its Inclusion Complexes in Biorelevant Media and Their Effect on Attenuating Mouse Ileum Contractions

Toshinari Ezawa et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the solubility of piperine in biorelevant media and its effects on intestinal contractions when presented in inclusion complexes with cyclodextrins. The results showed that inclusion complexes significantly suppressed intestinal contractility, with the PP/alpha CD complex exhibiting the highest solubility and efficacy in suppressing intestinal contractions.
