Development and Verification of a Hypoxic Gene Signature for Predicting Prognosis, Immune Microenvironment, and Chemosensitivity for Osteosarcoma

Fengfeng Wu et al.

Summary: A hypoxic gene signature was developed for predicting survival outcomes of osteosarcoma patients. The signature showed good predictive performance and could independently predict prognosis. Low-risk samples were characterized by higher immune cell infiltrations, stromal/immune scores, and drug sensitivity.

Summary: Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) is a database repository hosting a substantial amount of publicly available high throughput gene expression data. To enable scientists to access, integrate, and analyze these datasets without programming proficiency, we developed the GEOexplorer webserver. With its user-friendly graphic interface, users can perform interactive and reproducible gene expression analysis, generating interactive visualizations and publication-ready figures.

Cisplatin resistance can be curtailed by blunting Bnip3-mediated mitochondrial autophagy

Caterina Vianello et al.

Summary: This study found that mitochondrial morphology and autophagy are altered in cisplatin resistant cancer cell lines, and the levels of the mitophagy receptor BNIP3 are elevated. Inhibiting BNIP3-driven mitophagy may be a potential therapeutic strategy to counteract cisplatin resistance.

CXCL11 Correlates With Antitumor Immunity and an Improved Prognosis in Colon Cancer

Yingying Cao et al.

Summary: CXCL11 is significantly upregulated in colorectal cancer, and its high expression is associated with better prognosis in colon adenocarcinoma but not in rectal adenocarcinoma. High CXCL11 expression is correlated with increased antitumor immune cells and decreased protumor immune cells. Additionally, CXCL11 mediates changes in gene expression and enriched immune pathway networks, influencing both cytotoxic genes and immunosuppressive molecules.

SLC6A14 and SLC38A5 Drive the Glutaminolysis and Serine-Glycine-One-Carbon Pathways in Cancer

Tyler Sniegowski et al.

Summary: Glutaminolysis and serine-glycine-one-carbon pathways in cancer cells are reprogrammed and upregulated to support the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. These pathways play crucial roles in the synthesis of purines, pyrimidines, and epigenetic modifications, with methionine being essential for methyl-transfer reactions.

Summary: This study explored the interaction between hypoxia and immune in the ccRCC microenvironment using multiomics data and established a satisfying prognostic model with important prognostic genes identified. Additionally, high-risk patients were found to show better responses to immunotherapy and chemotherapy drugs, indicating potential implications for personalized treatment strategies.

Development and Validation of a Hypoxia-Associated Prognostic Signature Related to Osteosarcoma Metastasis and Immune Infiltration

Yucheng Fu et al.

Summary: This study identified hypoxia-associated genes related to osteosarcoma metastasis and constructed a gene signature to predict osteosarcoma prognosis. Two genes (DCN and P4HA1) were involved in the hypoxia-associated gene signature. Patients with high-risk scores showed lower survival rates, and the gene signature was identified as an independent prognostic factor.
