Thermal management of 18650 Li-ion battery using novel fins-PCM-EG composite heat sinks

Rajesh Akula et al.

Summary: This study introduces a novel composite material for better thermal management of a battery at high discharge rates. The composite consists of fins, a phase change material (PCM), and expanded graphite (EG). The experimental results show that the composite material in the heat sink greatly improves the thermal conductivity and effectively regulates the temperature of the battery.
