Compositionally graded SS316 to C300 Maraging steel using additive manufacturing

A. Ben-Artzy et al.

Summary: Joining of dissimilar metals is necessary in various industries, posing challenges due to differences in properties. Traditional welding techniques have limitations, while Additive Manufacturing offers new solutions. Building functionally graded parts using Directed Energy Deposition (DED) allows for smooth transitions in properties and microstructure during metal joining.

A modified inherent strain model with consideration of the variance of mechanical properties in metal additive manufacturing

Yanfei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a modified inherent strain (MIS) method specifically developed for metal additive manufacturing (AM) was proposed, termed as MIS-VM model, which can predict residual stresses and deformations more accurately. The comparison with an experiment and a detailed thermo-mechanical model showed that the consideration of mechanical properties is essential for accurate predictions in the MIS method.
