Improving noble metal catalytic activity in the dry reforming of methane by adding niobium

D. Ballesteros-Plata et al.

Summary: By adjusting the Pd/Nb ratio, the catalytic activity of the catalyst can be improved, with bimetallic samples showing higher activity compared to monometallic ones. The presence of Nb can reduce the amount of carbon deposited on the catalyst, increasing the stability of the catalyst.

Radio-frequency (RF) plasma synthesis of H-ZSM-5 supported MnOx catalysts with high catalytic activity for deNOx-SCR by propylene

Tian Tang et al.

Summary: The MnOx/ZSM-5-H-2 RF-100W catalyst activated by efficient H-2 RF plasma exhibits excellent catalytic performance in low-temperature C3H6-SCR reactions, with over 99% NO conversion achieved at 200-300 degrees C under lean burn conditions. The improved catalytic activity can be attributed to the growth of stronger active Mn2O3 species, increased lattice oxygen, stable BrOnsted acidity, higher surface Mn concentration, good dispersion, and larger pore size facilitated by H-2 RF plasma activation.

A highly active Ni catalyst supported on Mg-substituted LaAlO3 for carbon dioxide reforming of methane

Xiaoli Bai et al.

Summary: In this study, pristine and Mg-substituted LaAlO3 perovskites were synthesized by the citrate sol-gel method and used as supports for Ni catalysts in CO2 reforming of methane. The Ni/La0.8Mg0.2AlO2.9 catalyst showed smaller Ni nanoparticles which led to enhanced reforming activity, and the improved stability was attributed to better anti-coke and anti-sintering properties. The research demonstrates that perovskites with appropriate surface modification can serve as novel supports for highly active catalysts.

Tailoring the stability of Ni-Fe/mayenite in methane - Carbon dioxide reforming

Ruifeng Peng et al.

Summary: The study investigates the improvement of dry reforming of methane activity and stability by modifying the metal load of the catalyst and using mayenite as a support material. Introduction of Fe can effectively suppress coking, while mayenite as support enhances the transfer of oxygen species to promote oxidation of carbon species. Through synergistic effects of mayenite support and Fe promotion, high CH4-CO2 conversion and excellent stability can be achieved for the Ni-xFe/Ca12Al14O33 catalysts.

Muhammad Masood Khan et al.

Summary: The addition of activated carbon to Ni/MgO-Al2O3 catalyst improved textural properties, increased surface area and pore volume, and decreased the size of metal Ni. The 10% activated carbon loading in 10AC-Ni/MgO-Al2O3 exhibited the best catalytic activity and stability.

Methane dry reforming over mesoporous La2O3 supported Ni catalyst for syngas production

Junwei Song et al.

Summary: In this study, highly active methane dry reforming (DRM) catalysts with superior coke-resistance were obtained by employing a nanocasting method to synthesize mesoporous La2O3 support using KIT-6 as a hard-template. The La2O3-KIT-6 support exhibited a high specific surface area and well-formed mesoporous structure, leading to a highly dispersed Ni active sites and enlarged interfaces between La2O2CO3 and Ni. This facilitated the reaction between coke and La2O2CO3 species, keeping the Ni sites more clean and active.

Cold plasma for preparation of Pd/C catalysts toward formic acid dehydrogenation: Insight into plasma working gas

Jingsen Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the influence of different cold plasma working gases on the performance of Pd/C catalysts was investigated. It was found that H2 plasma had the highest catalytic activity, followed by Ar plasma, while O2 and air plasma exhibited poor catalytic activity due to severe ablation of the carbon support and agglomeration of Pd nanoparticles. The discharge parameters indicated that H2 plasma facilitated the migration of Pd active species to the outer surface of the support, resulting in the highest catalytic activity of Pd/C-H2P catalyst.

Yuxiao Dai et al.

Summary: By decomposing nickel precursor with dielectric barrier discharge plasma, the activity of ceria-zirconia solid solution supported nickel catalysts can be improved, resulting in smaller nickel nanoparticles, higher reducibility, more basic sites, and oxygen vacancies. This leads to enhanced activation of CO2 for reforming and improved coke resistance.

Summary: Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are considered efficient green energy technology in the 21st century, but carbon deposition on Ni-based anodes is a common issue when hydrocarbons are used as fuel. On-cell reforming of hydrocarbons, also known as fuel pre reforming, is a promising solution for alleviating carbon deposition, by finding an efficient and stable fuel reforming catalyst such as perovskite oxides.
