The effect of industrial structure adjustment on China's energy intensity: Evidence from linear and nonlinear analysis

Bingjiang Luan et al.

Summary: This study finds that industrial structure adjustment is an effective measure to reduce energy intensity in China. Linear analysis shows that an increase in the proportion of the tertiary industry and industrial structure optimization are associated with a decline in energy intensity. Nonlinear analysis indicates that changes in industrial structure optimization affect the relationships among industrial structure adjustment, technological progress, and energy intensity.

Influence of cities population size on their energy consumption and CO2 emissions: the case of Spain

Irene M. Zarco-Soto et al.

Summary: This study uses statistical data to calculate CO2 emissions and energy consumption in cities, aiming to reduce emissions and promote the use of alternative energy sources. Analysis of 145 Spanish cities with over 50,000 inhabitants shows that larger cities have higher energy consumption and CO2 emissions, while smaller cities have lower energy consumption.

Sources of inefficient power generation by coal-fired thermal power plants in China: A metafrontier DEA decomposition approach

Shogo Eguchi et al.

Summary: This study examines the efficiency changes and sources of inefficiency in coal-fired thermal power plants in China, finding that large-scale power plants have higher efficiency compared to small-scale ones. Operational inefficiency is the main source of inefficiency in eastern and central China, while the technology gap and equipment differences are the main sources in western China.

Study on the industrial structure optimization under constraint of energy intensity

Pan Xiongfeng et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the impact of energy intensity on industry structure varies with technological progress in different departments, with high-energy-consuming industries shifting to low-energy and high value-added sectors, and the proportion of tertiary industry increasing, especially in industries such as wholesale and retail, hotels and catering, and transportation.
