A Zn(II)-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) containing azo-functionalized pores was synthesized by solvothermal process. Batch adsorption experiments for the removal of U(VI) were performed with the MOFs. The adsorption data were successfully modeled by the Langmuir and D-R isotherms, suggesting a chemisorption with monolayer homogeneous adsorption. The thermodynamics research shows the adsorption being a feasible and endothermic process. The larger experimental adsorption capacity of 312.32 mg g(-1) suggests that MOFs may be a potential adsorbent material for removal of U(VI) ions from waste water and further development would be warranted in future.
