The Effect and Influence Mechanism of Soil Salinity on Phosphorus Availability in Coastal Salt-Affected Soils

Wenping Xie et al.

Summary: Soil salinity significantly affects the availability and components of phosphorus in coastal areas of Jiangsu Province. Environmental factors such as soil salinity, pH, and alkaline phosphatase activity are closely correlated with soil available phosphorus. Soil salinity and alkaline phosphatase activity are the main influencing factors for soil available phosphorus in this study.

Soil salinization management for sustainable development: A review

Ajay Singh

Summary: Expanding irrigated agriculture is essential to feed the growing global population, but it can lead to soil salinization without proper management, which is a persistent environmental issue. Over 20% of global irrigated areas currently face soil salinization and waterlogging, with potential expansion to over 50% by 2050. Proper management of soil salinization is crucial for achieving Sustainable Development Goals, and comprehensive measures are needed to address this environmental problem.

Effect of alkaline and chemically engineered biochar on soil properties and phosphorus bioavailability in maize

Muhammad Farooq Qayyum et al.

Summary: The study shows that acidified biochar amendments have the potential to improve plant P uptake and dry-matter yield, with different biochars showing varying effects under P conditions. Acidified RHB significantly affects root dry-matter, while non-acidified WSB exhibits higher P content in incubation study. Further research is needed to explore specific P management strategies for sustainable crop production.
