Interactive effects of dietary phosphorus and microbial phytase on growth performance, intestinal morphometry, and welfare of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fed on low-fishmeal diets

Ibrahim Adeshina et al.

Summary: Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. This study assessed the effects of replacing inorganic phosphorus with hybrid microbial phytase in Nile tilapia diets. The results showed that feeding diets containing phytase and/or inorganic phosphorus significantly improved growth and feed intake of the fish, while also positively impacting their welfare.

Effect of enzymes (phytase and xylanase), probiotics (B. amyloliquefaciens) and their combination on growth performance and nutrient utilisation in Nile tilapia

Roel M. Maas et al.

Summary: The study showed that enzymes and probiotics individually improved growth rate and feed conversion ratio in Nile tilapia. However, there was no significant synergistic effect when both enzymes and probiotics were combined.

Diverse activities and biochemical properties of amylase and proteases from six freshwater fish species

Chamaiporn Champasri et al.

Summary: This study investigated the biochemical properties, enzyme activities, isoenzyme pattern, and molecular weight of three types of digestive enzyme from six freshwater fish species. The study found that the digestive enzymes in the fish species exhibited different enzyme activities under different pH and temperature conditions, as well as having different isoenzyme patterns and molecular weights.

Top-sprayed phytase enhances the digestibility of energy, protein, amino acids and minerals, and reduces phosphorus output in Nile tilapia fed all-vegetable diets

Tania Cristina Pontes et al.

Summary: The study found that adding 1500 FTU/kg PHY significantly improved the digestibility coefficients of GE, CP, P, cationic minerals and AA in juvenile Nile tilapia, while reducing phosphorus output, thereby optimizing energy and nutrient utilization.
