Designing of an inflammatory knee joint thermogram dataset for arthritis classification using deep convolution neural network.

Shawli Bardhan et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the limited application of thermography for inflammatory joint disease diagnosis and aims to create a knee thermogram dataset using standardized protocols. The dataset, named Infrared Knee Joint Dataset, includes healthy and arthritis affected knee thermograms. The experimental results show high accuracy in classifying healthy and arthritis knee thermograms, as well as distinguishing different types of arthritis.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear Detection Based on Deep Convolutional Neural Network

Kavita Joshi et al.

Summary: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear is a common sports injury in athletes such as football players, volleyball players, sprinters, and runners. Detecting ACL tear has been challenging due to the complex structure of knee ligaments. This paper proposes a new approach using a three-layered compact parallel deep convolutional neural network (CPDCNN) to improve the feature distinctiveness in knee MRI images for ACL tear detection. The proposed CPDCNN achieves superior performance compared to existing state-of-the-art methods, with an overall accuracy of 96.60%, recall rate of 0.9668, precision of 0.9654, and F1 score of 0.9582.

Detection and Classification of Knee Osteoarthritis

Joseph Humberto Cueva et al.

Summary: This study proposes a semi-automatic CADx model based on deep convolutional neural networks for simultaneous detection of osteoarthritis (OA) lesions in both knees. The severity of the disease is measured using the Kellgren and Lawrence (KL) scale through visual inspection of X-ray or MR images. Experimental results show that the model performs better in accurately classifying KL-0, KL-3, and KL-4 classes.
