Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials for enhanced oil recovery (EOR): A review

Suci A. C. Natalya et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the recent advances of several two-dimensional nanomaterials as nanoflooding agents. Compared with commonly used homogeneous spherical nanoparticles, two-dimensional nanomaterials can generate amphiphilic Janus nanosheets with higher interfacial activity and emulsion stabilization, especially in amphiphilic states. Therefore, two-dimensional nanomaterials are considered as up-and-coming nanoflooding agents for achieving high oil recovery.

Viscosity, thermal conductivity and density of carbon quantum dots nanofluids: an experimental investigation and development of new correlation function and ANN modeling

A. M. Mirsaeidi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) as additives on the thermophysical properties of nanofluids. The presence of CQDs significantly enhances the viscosity and thermal conductivity of nanofluids. Empirical equations and artificial neural network models are developed to accurately predict the properties of nanofluids, showing excellent agreement with experimental data.

A Selection Flowchart for Micromodel Experiments Based on Computational Fluid Dynamic Simulations of Surfactant Flooding in Enhanced Oil Recovery

Santiago Cespedes et al.

Summary: A selection flowchart utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations was proposed to assist in the design of microfluidic experiments aimed at distinguishing the performance of two surfactants with similar IFT values in CEOR processes. Sensitivity analysis of response variables revealed that the entrapment effect was most affected by changes in IFT, while recovery factor and breakthrough time were also significant. The approach developed in this research reduces the number of experiments and increases the likelihood of success.

Natural Convection Heat Transfer in a Porous Cavity with Sinusoidal Temperature Distribution Using Cu/Water Nanofluid: Double MRT Lattice Boltzmann Method

Hasan Sajjadi et al.

Summary: In this study, a new double multi relaxation time (MRT) Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) was used to analyze natural convection flow in a porous cavity with sinusoidal temperature distribution. The effects of different Darcy numbers, various Rayleigh numbers, and porosity on the heat transfer rate were studied. The results showed an increase in heat transfer rate with increasing Darcy number, porosity, Rayleigh number, volume fraction of nanoparticles, and phase deviation.
