Magnetic Nanoplatform With Novel Potential for the Treatment of Bone Pathologies: Drug Loading and Biocompatibility on Blood and Bone Cells

Maria Gabriela Montiel Schneider et al.

Summary: Magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (MNPs) coated with citric acid (MG@CA) were used as raw materials for the treatment of bone diseases. The study focused on the interaction between therapeutic drugs and the magnetic platform by characterizing the loaded nanosystems. Biocompatibility studies showed satisfactory results on red blood cells and only a high dose of the magnetic nano-platform induced a decrease in metabolic activity of endothelial cells and bone cells. The drug adsorption efficiency and loading capability varied for each model drug.

Low-frequency ultrasound irradiation increases paclitaxel-induced sarcoma cells apoptosis and facilitates the transmembrane delivery of drugs

Tana Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of low-frequency ultrasound (LFU) combined with paclitaxel (PTX) on sarcoma. The results showed that LFU combined with PTX significantly induced cell apoptosis, blocked the cell cycle, inhibited the activation of the JAK2/STAT3 signaling pathway, and suppressed the expression of PD-L1. In vivo experiments also demonstrated that LFU combined with PTX inhibited tumor growth without significant adverse effects. This combination therapy holds promise for the treatment of sarcoma by increasing the intracellular concentration of PTX.
