Aptamer-conjugated gold nanoparticles for targeted paclitaxel delivery and photothermal therapy in breast cancer

Summary: This study successfully developed a targeted photothermal therapy with a multifunctional drug delivery platform. The Mucin1 (MUC1) aptamer-modified poly (ethylene glycol)-gold nanoparticle system loaded with Paclitaxel (PTX) showed selective cytotoxicity towards MUC1-positive breast cancer cells and exhibited excellent cellular uptake ability when combined with near-infrared (NIR) irradiation. The synergistic effect of PTX/PEG-AuNPs@antiMUC1 was observed, leading to increased cell death compared to either photothermal therapy or chemotherapy alone. Protein expression analysis confirmed the potential of this synergistic combinational system in cancer therapy.

EpCAM-TSIIA-NPs can enhance the expression of APC and axin, stabilize the beta-catenin destruction complex, and inhibit tumor occurrence and progression by blocking nuclear activities of beta-catenin.
