Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI radiomics nomogram for predicting axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer

Deling Song et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study is to develop and validate a radiomics nomogram for the preoperative diagnosis of axillary lymph node (ALN) metastasis in breast cancer patients by integrating radiomics features from DCE-MRI and clinical factors. The results showed that the radiomics nomogram had good calibration and excellent performance in ALN detection, making it a noninvasive and reliable tool for accurate prediction of ALN metastasis in breast cancer preoperatively.

The prognostic miR-532-5p-correlated ceRNA-mediated lipid droplet accumulation drives nodal metastasis of cervical cancer

Chunliang Shang et al.

Summary: This study established a miRNA-dependent prognostic model for cervical cancer patients with lymph node metastasis (LNM) and found that miR-532-5p inhibits epithelial-mesenchymal transition and lymphangiogenesis by regulating lipid droplet (LD) accumulation. The study also discovered a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network involving miR-532-5p, LINC01410, and fatty acid synthase (FASN), and demonstrated that combined therapy with miR-532-5p and FASN inhibitor orlistat can inhibit tumor growth and LNM.

A Nomogram Based on Molecular Biomarkers and Radiomics to Predict Lymph Node Metastasis in Breast Cancer

Xiaoming Qiu et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to explore a quantitative imaging evaluation model based on radiomics features and molecular biomarkers for assessing lymph node metastasis in breast cancer. The results showed that the combined model can be used as an effective non-invasive method to predict the risk of lymph node metastasis in breast cancer.

Up-regulation of NMRK2 mediated by TFE3 fusions is the key for energy metabolism adaption of Xp11.2 translocation renal cell carcinoma

Yi Chen et al.

Summary: This study utilized metabolomics to identify metabolic differences between Xp11.2 tRCC and renal clear cell carcinoma. By employing bioinformatics and data mining, NMRK2 was identified as an important target for energy metabolism adaptation in Xp11.2 tRCC. Furthermore, it was found that the TFE3 fusion protein promotes mitochondrial respiration in Xp11.2 tRCC through upregulating NMRK2.

Targeting mitochondrial metabolism for metastatic cancer therapy

Antonino Passaniti et al.

Summary: Tumors and metastatic cells have different preferences in energy metabolism, and drugs targeting mitochondrial metabolism may have therapeutic effects on metastatic cells. This review provides a mechanistic analysis of using drugs that enhance reactive oxygen species (ROS) production or reduce antioxidant defenses to increase oxidative stress and inhibit tumor cell survival. It also discusses the rationale for targeting ERK and mitochondrial respiration as therapeutic strategies to reduce tumor metastasis and treatment resistance.

A Radiomics Model for Preoperative Predicting Sentinel Lymph Node Metastasis in Breast Cancer Based on Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced MRI

Mingming Ma et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a radiomics model based on preoperative DCE-MRI to identify SLN metastasis in breast cancer patients. Four radiomics models were built and their performance was evaluated. Results showed that Model 3 had the highest performance in predicting SLN metastasis. ALN radiomics feature extraction on DCE-MRI is a potential method to evaluate SLN status in BC patients.

Inhibition of PTPN21 has antitumor effects in glioma by restraining the EGFR/PI3K/AKT pathway

Xiao-qiang Li et al.

Summary: The study reveals that up-regulation of PTPN21 is correlated with glioma and predicts poor survival rate in patients. Silencing PTPN21 has significant anti-cancer effects in glioma cells, inhibiting proliferation, arresting cell cycle, suppressing metastasis, and enhancing chemosensitivity. Mechanistically, PTPN21 mediates the EGFR/PI3K/AKT pathway in glioma.
