Advances in the Fabrication of Biomaterials for Gradient Tissue Engineering

Chunching Li et al.

Summary: Natural tissues and organs exhibit important spatial gradients, stimulating research into replicating these gradients in engineered tissues. Existing gradient fabrication methods can be categorized into additive manufacturing, component redistribution, controlled phase changes, and postmodification. Recent examples and trends in the field have outlined criteria and perspectives for gradient fabrication.

Tailoring and visualising pore openings in gelatin-based hydrogel foams

Friederike Dehli et al.

Summary: Fine control over the diameters of the pore openings in hydrogel foams can be achieved by adjusting the gas fraction of the foam template. Experimental results showed that the obtained ratios are between those theoretically predicted for disordered foams and FCC ordered foams.

Development of a Multi-Layer Skin Substitute Using Human Hair Keratinic Extract-Based Hybrid 3D Printing

Won Seok Choi et al.

Summary: A novel skin substitute was developed by combining multi-layer skin tissue reconstruction with the use of electrospinning and 3D printing. The study showed that the PCL/keratin scaffold promoted faster skin regeneration without scar formation in deep skin defects, suggesting a new possibility for artificial skin production using multiple cells.
