Lymph Node Tumor Burden Correlates With Tumor Budding and Poorly Differentiated Clusters: A New Prognostic Factor in Colorectal Carcinoma?

Ivan Archilla et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the correlation between the total tumor load (TTL) in lymph nodes (LNs) from colorectal cancer surgical specimens with patient outcomes, tumor budding (TB), and poorly differentiated clusters (PDC). Results showed that TB, PDC, and high TTL were associated with worse overall and disease-free survival, indicating new prognostic factors for colorectal cancer.

The advantage of one-step nucleic acid amplification for the diagnosis of lymph node metastasis in colorectal cancer patients

Summary: OSNA is a rapid and semi-quantitative method for detecting LN metastases, showing high specificity, concordance rate, and negative predictive value in the diagnosis of breast cancer LN metastasis. Its potential application in CRC is under investigation with promising results. Further multicenter prospective studies are needed to demonstrate the benefits of OSNA in CRC patients.
