Efficacy of endoscopic ultrasound in the evaluation of small gastrointestinal stromal tumors

Qi-Chao Ge et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in the diagnosis and risk assessment of small gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs). The findings showed that small GISTs with specific EUS features should receive intensive surveillance or undergo endoscopic surgery. The results provide useful guidance for the diagnosis and treatment of small GISTs.

The Identity of PDGFRA D842V-Mutant Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)

Alessandro Rizzo et al.

Summary: The D842V mutation in PDGFRA is the most common mutation in GIST, conferring primary resistance to conventional treatments. In recent years, new specific inhibitors have been developed for this mutation with promising results in clinical settings.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumours

Jean-Yves Blay et al.

Summary: Gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST) are rare malignancies with 80% of cases having KIT or PDGFRA activating mutations. Localized GIST can be cured through surgery, while advanced resistant GIST with resistance mutations require treatment with new drugs.

Efficacy of the Franseen needle for diagnosing gastrointestinal submucosal lesions including small tumors

Kazumasa Nagai et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that EUS-FNB using a Franseen needle is more effective in diagnosing GI SELs, especially for small lesions. Multivariate analysis revealed that the use of Franseen needle and tumor size >20 mm were independently associated with obtaining a sufficient diagnostic sample.

Ripretinib and MEK Inhibitors Synergize to Induce Apoptosis in Preclinical Models of GIST and Systemic Mastocytosis

Anu Gupta et al.

Summary: The majority of GIST patients develop secondary resistance mutations in KIT after treatment with KIT kinase inhibitors. Tumor heterogeneity and reactivation of the MAPK pathway pose challenges to GIST treatment. Combination therapy of ripretinib with MEK inhibitors shows potential for inducing cytocidal responses in GIST and SM cells.
