Identification and prognostic analysis of biomarkers to predict the progression of pancreatic cancer patients

Wei Li et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the highly and selectively expressed targets in pancreatic cancer (PC) using the GeoMxTM Digital Spatial Profiler (DSP) and analyzed their roles in PC using the TCGA database. LAMB3, FN1, KRT17, KRT19, and ANXA1 were identified as upregulated targets in PC and could be considered as predictors of prognosis and immunotherapy in PC.

S100 calcium-binding protein A10 contributes to malignant traits in osteosarcoma cells by regulating glycolytic metabolism via the AKT/mTOR pathway

Feng Ling et al.

Summary: This study revealed that S100A10 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma tissues and cell lines. It promotes proliferation and metastasis while inhibiting apoptosis in osteosarcoma cells. S100A10 regulates the glycolysis process and activates the AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby promoting malignant behavior in osteosarcoma cells.

Overexpression of laminin-5 gamma-2 promotes tumorigenesis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma through EGFR/ERK1/2/AKT/mTOR cascade

Anuradha Kirtonia et al.

Summary: LAMC2 plays a crucial role in the tumorigenesis of PDAC by repressing epithelial-mesenchymal transition and modulating the EGFR/ERK1/2/AKT/mTOR axis, thus inhibiting PDAC tumor growth and metastasis.

Polymeric immunoglobulin receptor suppresses colorectal cancer through the AKT-FOXO3/4 axis by downregulating LAMB3 expression

Ding Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that PIGR gene is hypermethylated and downregulated in colorectal cancer (CRC), and these features are associated with reduced overall survival in patients. PIGR overexpression inhibits malignant phenotypes of CRC cells in vitro and impedes CRC cells growth in nude mice. Mechanistically, PIGR physically associates with REST and blocks the transcription of LAMB3, leading to the suppression of AKT-FOXO3/4 axis. In drug sensitivity assay, PIGR-overexpressing cells are more sensitive to cisplatin and gemcitabine.

Novel LAMC2 fusion protein has tumor-promoting properties in ovarian carcinoma

Hoshino Daisuke et al.

Summary: Laminins, composed of alpha, beta, and gamma chains, play a critical role in cancer progression. A novel short form of Lm-gamma 2 (Lm-gamma 2F) can activate the EGFR/AKT pathways more effectively, promoting proliferation and motility of ovarian cancer cells. The translocation between LAMC2 and NR6A1 genes is crucial for the malignant growth and progression of ovarian cancer cells.

LAMC2 promotes cancer progression and gemcitabine resistance through modulation of EMT and ATP-binding cassette transporters in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

Yasuyuki Okada et al.

Summary: The overexpression of LAMC2 in PDAC is associated with poor survival outcomes and can potentially serve as a prognostic marker. Inhibition of LAMC2 in PDAC cells enhances gemcitabine sensitivity and promotes apoptosis. LAMC2 also affects cell migration and invasion abilities, and is correlated with the expression of EMT and ABC transporters.

The ANXA2/S100A10 Complex-Regulation of the Oncogenic Plasminogen Receptor

Alamelu G. Bharadwaj et al.

Summary: The generation of the serine protease plasmin is initiated by the binding of its zymogenic precursor, plasminogen, to cell surface receptors. This process plays a crucial role in several physiological processes and cancer cells exploit this mechanism to promote tumor development, progression, and metastasis. The protein S100A10 is identified as a key plasminogen receptor in cancer progression and oncogenesis, with potential as a biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

ITGA2, LAMB3, and LAMC2 may be the potential therapeutic targets in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma: an integrated bioinformatics analysis

Shajedul Islam et al.

Summary: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a common form of pancreatic cancer with poor prognosis. Gene expression analysis identified 20 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in PDAC tissues compared to non-cancerous tissues, enriched in extracellular matrix, cell adhesion, and protein-protein interaction pathways. Hub genes such as ITGA2, LAMB3, and LAMC2 play roles in PDAC progression and may serve as therapeutic targets.

Summary: Research has shown that S100A10 expression and nuclear localization, modified by SUMOylation, are associated with the high proliferation and migration capabilities of PGCCs and their daughter cells. This association affects the differentiation, metastases, and relapse of CRCs by regulating the expression of ARHGEF18, PTPRN2, and DEFA3.
