Fabrication and characterization of biodegradable active films with modified morphology based on polycaprolactone-polylactic acid-green tea extract

Azadeh Sadeghi et al.

Summary: This study developed an eco-friendly food packaging by blending polycaprolactone and polylactic acid as biodegradable polymers, along with green tea extract. The composite films showed improved barrier properties, mechanical properties, antioxidant properties, and biodegradability. The results suggest the potential application of the blend in food packaging.

Characterization of Furcellaran-Whey Protein Isolate Films with Green Tea or Pu-erh Extracts and Their Application as Packaging of an Acid-Curd Cheese

Agnieszka Pluta-Kubica et al.

Summary: This study prepared FUR and WPI films containing pu-erh or green tea extracts for packaging acid-curd cheese. Pu-erh tea addition improved storage loss modulus, tensile strength, and antioxidant activity, while green tea addition enhanced tensile strength and antioxidant activity, but reduced elongation at break values.

Development of a Novel Antimicrobial Electrospun Nanofiber Based on Polylactic Acid/Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Containing Pomegranate Peel Extract for Active Food Packaging

Samad Bodbodak et al.

Summary: A new active electrospun nanofiber based on PLA/HPMC containing PPE was developed for antimicrobial food packaging materials. The optimal 80:20 PLA/HPMC NFs were found to have improved thermal stability, tensile stress, porosity, and antioxidant activity, while inhibiting the growth of pathogenic bacteria. This new material can potentially be a promising candidate for active food packaging systems.
