Electrocatalytic production of glycolic acid via oxalic acid reduction on titania debris supported on a TiO2 nanotube array

Francesco Pio Abramo et al.

Summary: Electrodes prepared by anodic oxidation of Ti foils are robust and non-toxic materials that can be used for the electrocatalytic reduction of oxalic acid to glycolic acid. This renewable energy-driven process allows for the production of alcoholic compounds from organic acids at low potential and room temperature. The structure of the electrodes plays a crucial role in the conversion rate of oxalic acid and the yield of glycolic acid.

Controllable interface engineering of g-C3N4/CuS nanocomposite photocatalysts

Jing Zou et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricates a series of multidimensional nanocomposites with different spatial interfaces by horizontally growing copper sulfide (CuS) on two-dimensional graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) nanosheets. Among them, the 2D/2D face-to-face contact interface exhibits the highest photocatalytic apparent rate constant. The results provide new insights into the relationship between microscopic interface structure and photocatalytic activity.

In Situ Synthesis of Lead-Free Halide Perovskite-COF Nanocomposites as Photocatalysts for Photoinduced Polymerization in Both Organic and Aqueous Phases

Yifan Zhu et al.

Summary: The instability of perovskite materials towards water and light is a critical challenge in their application. In this study, lead-free bismuth halide perovskite nanocrystals were encapsulated in covalent organic frameworks (PNCs-COFs) using an in situ growth approach. The resulting PNCs-COFs nanocomposites exhibited good water processability and photocatalytic performance.

Z-Scheme 2D/2D alpha-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 heterojunction for photocatalytic oxidation of nitric oxide

Yanxian Geng et al.

Summary: The Z-scheme 2D/2D α-Fe2O3/g-C3N4 heterojunction prepared by impregnation-hydrothermal method shows efficient photocatalytic degradation of pollutants with high stability and reusability. The unique structure with high interfacial area and widely-dispersed active sites leads to broad visible-light absorption and promotes charge transfer, resulting in significantly improved efficiency for NO removal compared to g-C3N4 alone.

Ti3C2 MXene-induced interface electron separation in g-C3N3/Ti3C2 MXene/MoSe2 Z-scheme heterojunction for enhancing visible light-irradiated enoxacin degradation

Yufei Zhou et al.

Summary: A Z-scheme heterojunction of g-C3N4/Ti3C2 MXene/MoSe2 (CXM) was constructed for effective visible light-induced removal of enoxacin, with Ti3C2 MXene playing a vital role in electron separation. The trapped electron further induced the active species formation to improve the activity. Moreover, CXM showed potential in degrading other fluoroquinolones contaminants.

Ferroelectric polarization-enhanced photocatalytic performance of heterostructured BaTiO3@TiO2 via interface engineering

Fan Bao-yan et al.

Summary: The study successfully enhanced photocatalytic activity by synthesizing ferroelectric-BaTiO3@photoelectric-TiO2 nanohybrids, with a degradation efficiency 1.7 times higher than pure TiO2 and 7.2 times higher than pure BaTiO3. This improvement is attributed to the synergy effect of photoelectric TiO2, ferroelectric-BaTiO3, and the rationally designed interfacial structure, which promotes the separation and transport of photogenerated charge carriers.
